The term boot camp scares me a little bit. Why do you call it that?
Boot camp refers to any short term camp which is focused on a very specific area. Potty Training Boot Camp is designed specifically to potty train your child. While the children will be playing, potty training will never be lost sight of as the goal is to have them potty trained when they come home.
How do you potty train the child so quickly?
Children should be ready to potty train before attending Potty Training Boot Camp. Please use the
checklist to determine if they are ready. Children will be taken to the potty every 30 minutes so they can have potty success. In addition, a special potty is used which will help position their body in a way in which the body is more relaxed so they can more easily be prompted to use the potty. In addition, I use cloth training pants so the children can really feel when they are wet or dirty.
What if my child is midway through Saturday Potty Training Boot Camp and they have still not had success on the potty?
The most tried and true method I have found is to let the children hang out on the potty while they play with toys in warm water. The water and its warmth help relax the child so they are more likely to potty.
What should I bring to Potty Training Boot Camp?
Bring a few changes of clothes in case of accidents. Clothes will be promptly laundered in detergent suitable for sensitive skin, but in the beginning there may be many accidents so it is best to have a few changes of clothing. Feel free to bring special toys from home and a special blanket or soothing item so they can feel more at ease while they are here. You should also bring 3 Pull-Ups so one can be given to them at night and 2 extra in case they have too many accidents and I need to use them instead of cloth training pants.
What will their day be like?
We will follow the regular meal, nap, and bedtime schedule while they are here. They will be taken to the potty every 30 minutes during their normal day of play.
Are the meals and snacks healthy?
USDA guidelines are followed. They are served vegetables and juice with every meal and milk with snack (unless we are having yogurt for snack and then it will be juice). Fresh fruit is for snack in the morning, a baked snack in the afternoon, and for evening snack we usually have another baked snack or dairy snack. Fried foods and junk food are not served.
My child has special dietary needs. Can you accommodate these?
Special dietary needs, such as a gluten free diet, will be accommodated but these special foods must be provided by the parents.
My child has a unique need. Are you able to accommodate their needs?
I have over 10 years experience accommodating unique needs of children and adults. Whatever the need is, I am able to adapt in order to be sure your child's needs are met in the process.
Do you discipline my child if they have an accident?
Potty training is a process and accidents are expected. They are not disciplined for an accident, though they may be rewarded (especially on the first day) for success.
Do they stay the night on Saturday?
They are expected to stay the night on Saturday so I can get them on the potty first thing Sunday morning. For continuity of the program, it is best they have a first morning trip in the same environment they were just in.
I want to take a long weekend. Can my child come on Friday and stay the night?
Children are welcome to begin the program on Friday night at 6 pm. The associated fee is an additional $25.
I don't want to leave my child overnight. Does the child have to stay overnight?
Your child does not have to spend Saturday night here. It is recommended, if you take this route, that you pick them up just before bedtime so they can be in a pull-up, and then bring them back at 7:30 am on Sunday. The cost of the Potty Training Boot Camp does not decrease if you choose to pick them up Saturday evening.
Can I come by and meet you before enrolling my child?
You are absolutely encouraged to come by and meet me and my family before enrolling! I can set up meeting times on Monday or Tuesday evening.
